The Blue Jays are sending catcher Juan Graterol to the Angels. Ben Nicholson-Smith reports that in return, the Jays will receive a player to be named later, or cash.
#BlueJays trade catcher Juan Graterol back to Angels for PTBNL or cash. Had been designated for assignment.

Graterol had a disappointing stint in the organization. When he was signed, the Jays only had Russell Martin and Mike Ohlman as options for catcher. That put Graterol in a good position to earn some at bats this season. However, the team then went out and signed Jarrod Saltalamacchia. More recently, the Jays have signed Luke Maile. Those two additions made Graterol’s road to the MLB a long one.
For his part, Graterol has had a strong start to the AAA season. He has posted a .429/.429/.429 slash line over 14 plate appearances with the Bisons. Graterol will now be reunited with the Angels’ organization, who he spent the 2016 season with.
