Blue Jays Announce Opening Day Roster, Osuna On DL

Following a busy couple of days this weekend, the Blue Jays have just announced their Opening Day roster. Most of the roster was predictable, with a couple of spots still up for grabs. The recent decisions to waive Mike Bolsinger and release Melvin Upton Jr. cleared up any confusion. A last-minute decision to place Roberto Osuna on the 10-day disabled list also caused an unexpected change in the bullpen. Per Shi Davidi, here is the roster as it will appear tomorrow in Baltimore:

Starting Rotation

  1. Marco Estrada
  2. J.A. Happ
  3. Marcus Stroman
  4. Francisco Liriano
  5. Aaron Sanchez

  1. Jason Grilli
  2. Joe Biagini
  3. Joe Smith
  4. J.P. Howell
  5. Aaron Lop
  6. Ryan Tepera
  7. Dominic Leone

  1. Russell Martin
  2. Justin Smoak
  3. Devon Travis
  4. Josh Donaldson
  5. Troy Tulowitzki
  6. Kendrys Morales
  7. Darwin Barney
  8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia
  9. Ryan Goins

  1. Jose Bautista
  2. Kevin Pillar

The roster will obviously undergo frequent changes this season, particularly in the bullpen. Expect to see Mat LatosTim MayzaChris Coghlan, and others throughout the season. Until then, the Jays will turn to the 25 players announced today.

What do you think? Are they set up to contend again, or are there still some glaring holes to be addressed? Sounds off in the comments below.
