Howell will be the Jays’ top left-handed option this season. The southpaw stumbled in 2016, as he posted an ERA of 4.09 over 50.2 innings. However, in the four years prior, he never had an ERA higher than 3.04. Howell was at his best in 2015, when he posted a 1.43 mark for the Dodgers.
The full terms of the deal are still unknown. What we do know is that the Jays have now addressed all of their needs this off-season. Any remaining moves will likely be made to add pitching depth.
